The Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose, Topical Absorbable Hemostatic Agent.

Plant derived - Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose was obtained by controlling oxidation of regenerated cellulose with sterile plain weave fabric which is 100% organic material. The fabric is white / pale yellow cast and has a faint and caramel- like aroma, It is strong and can be sutured or cut without fraying. 

Absorbable Sterile Hemostat Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose is used adjectively in surgical procedures to assist in the control of capillary, venous and small arterial oozing.

Mechanism of Action

1-The fibers swell into a dark red gelatinous mass as a result of the oxidation of hemoglobin from the blood. This gelatinous mass provides a physical matrix for platelets to adhere to.

2-The other hemostatic mechanism of action occurs through the stimulation of vasoconstriction.

Hemostatic Effect

Provides rapid hemostasis (Bleeding Control) achieving within 2-3 minutes.

Irritation

Do not cause irritation to applied body/tissue.

Antibacterial Effect

Exhibits some bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties with the effect on growth and multiplication of Gm(+Ve) Gm (-Ve) bacteria including aerobic and anaerobic bacterias that shows resistance to antibiotics.

Sterility

Sterilized by (CO-60) Gamma irradiation technique.

Classification

Classified as a Class 3 according to European Medical Device Directives MDD.

How to Apply

Cut into pieces as required - use as little material as possible

Apply it dry - but don't leave it dry.

Soft pressure for 2-3 minutes might be required (better with a wet gauze)

Leave in place to absorb or remove with saline solution using forceps

Avoid packing; remove surplus

General Contraindications

• Implantation in bone defects as may interfere with callus formation & a theoretical chance of cyst formation.

• If used in or around bony confine, spinal cord, optic nerve or chiasm should be removed due to risk of swelling and pressure.

• Avoid packing. 

• Not to be used to control large arterial bleeding.

• Not to be used for Non hemorrhagic oozing surfaces as other body fluids do not react with LENCEL.
